MIAMI, FL (May 27, 2022) – This past weekend marked the start of the inaugural season for Miami Athletic Club as the men’s and women’s teams both took to the pitch and competed against FC Miami City at Tropical Park Stadium. After weeks of planning and training, the weekend marked Miami AC’s historic debut in USL League Two and USL W League. Miami AC’s first-ever matches were competitive and filled with high energy and big personalities.
The men’s team earned a 3-0 win over FC Miami City during the opening weekend to collect all three points. The men faced a tough opponent and battled it out on the field. Playmaker Felipe Jaime opened the scoring for Miami AC with an assist from winger Adrian Quintero. Defensive midfielder from Lafayette College, David Mirzahi added an additional goal for the club off of a rebound and Adrian Quintero scored the final goal of the game assisted by former NPSL Sunshine Conference and NSL Florida Champion Paulo Alves. After a great team effort for the win, Felipe Jaime was selected as the Acai Brazil Player of the Match. The men have already started the travel to take on Nona FC this evening, Friday, May 27th at Austin-Tindall Sports Complex to try and continue this strong start to the season.

The women’s team played out a 5-2 loss against FC Miami City with heart and effort. Starting forward and Jamaica U-20 National Team player, Lexi Spencer scored the first goal in history for the Miami AC Women’s team with a beautiful strike from outside of the box. Spencer also caused the own goal for the women’s team. Her efforts were integral to the team’s performance and gained her the title of this week’s Acai Brazil Player of the Match. The ladies will be taking on FC Miami City again this Friday, May 27th at Central Broward Park to try and achieve their first win of the season!
